Hampton CVB, partners awarded marketing leverage grant
Hampton Convention & Visitor Bureau has been awarded $25,000 in marketing funds from the Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC). The VTC Marketing Leverage Program is designed to stimulate new tourism marketing programs through the creation of tourism partnerships. The objective of the program is to leverage limited marketing dollars, resulting in increased visitor spending.

Front Row Fanatic, Virginia Tourism Corporation’s (VTC) brand new national promotion highlighting Virginia’s thriving music scene, is currently showcasing one of Hampton Road’s largest and most popular festivals, Hampton Bay Days! The promotion, running now through July 1, will give entrants the opportunity to win a trip for two to one of the state’s most “musical” destinations.

Jazz Jitney Returns During Hampton Jazz Festival Weekend 2008
Visitors to Hampton, Virginia for the 41st annual Hampton Jazz Festival will find an abundance of exhibitions, attractions, and events complimenting the June 27-29, 2008 annual celebration. Guests wishing to experience all of the activities offered will find it easy thanks to the Jazz Jitney, a shuttle that loops Coliseum Central, Downtown Hampton, and the Power Plant of Hampton Roads beginning Friday, June 27, and ending Sunday, June 29. The Afrikan American Festival, an art exhibition at Hampton University Museum, and a special African-American themed tour at the Hampton History Museum are just a few of the programs to be presented that weekend.

Gloucester and Langley Kennel Clubs To Host The Virginia Memorial Day Cluster All-Breed Dog Show May 23-26, 2008 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center--Event including conformation, obedience trials, rally, dog related health clinics, expected to draw over 4,000 spectators--
On May 23-26, 2008, the Hampton Roads Convention Center will welcome over 2,000 canine friends to The Virginia Memorial Day Cluster. Hosted by the Gloucester and Langley Kennel Clubs, in conjunction with the Merrimac Dog Training Club, this highly anticipated annual event is expecting to draw over 4,000 spectators within a four day period, utilizing all three of the convention center’s exhibit halls (108,000 square-feet total!).

This May 17-18, the Boo Williams Sportsplex will welcome over 1,000 female youth volleyball players to the 3rd annual Hampton Roads Invitational. The event, previously held at the Hampton Roads Convention Center the past two years, is expected to draw competitors from across the United States.
