02 | Trio Voronezh

These three virtuoso musicians were “discovered” playing for the crowds in the subways in Frankfurt, Germany. Made up of domra, bayan, and the double bass balalaika, the Trio plays Russian tunes (they are all graduates of the famed Music Academy in Voronezh) and the classics in a fresh, convincing, and fun filled way.

17 - 19 | Third Annual Hampton, VA Sports Festival

In 2011, this event welcomed over 1,600 athletes, coaches, and officials from 17 different states with a total attendance of almost 8,000 people. Sports include arm wrestling, bikini body building, body building, boxing, chess, cornhole, cross-fit, fitness body building, grappling, gymnastics, jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, Muay Thai, MMA, K-1, Power Lifting, Strongest Man and Woman, and Taekwondo.

18 | Mad River Theatre Works in Freedom Bound

An original play with music, Freedom Bound tells the story of the most important incident in the history of the Underground Railroad in Ohio. This is the story of Addison White, a slave who escaped from Kentucky and ended up in Mechanicsburg, Ohio.

23 - 26 | Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival XXIII

Celebrate 23 years of quilt, wearable, and textile art at one of the largest and most anticipated quilt gatherings on the eastern seaboard. The theme of this year’s festival “What If?” gives entrants an opportunity to relate what their quilt would say…if it could talk! Other highlights include a Merchants Mall with over 250 vendor booths (showcasing everything from quilting supplies to sewing related craft items), clothing, textiles, books, antique quilts, and more.

25 | Salute to the Freedom Fighters and the Featured Artist Jacob Lawrence
